Access statement

Heath Close Bed & Breakfast : 3 Landsdown Road : Budleigh Salterton : EX9 6AH

 

Introduction

At Heath Close we strive to ensure that all the needs of our guests are met. This Access Statement summarises the services and facilities that we offer. If you have any questions or require further details please contact us via telephone, email or at our address and we will be happy to help.

 

Pre-arrival

Heath Close is located in Landsdown Road, which is a no-through road to traffic, leading up a hill from the main road into Budleigh Salterton. Heath Close is the second house on the left.

There is a bus stop situated very near Heath Close on the main road.

The nearest railway station is in Exmouth, which is approximately 15 minutes away by car

It is about a 20-minute walk into Budleigh Salterton High Street and the beach. The most direct route is along a busy road which lacks pavement in some places. We are happy to provide directions of a quieter, but slightly longer route into town.

Details of local taxi firms are held at reception and we are happy to arrange this for you

Heath Close is situated near a public footpath which provides access the to South West Costal Path. The route to the Costal Path is up a hill and the walk takes approximately fifteen minutes.

Information can be provided in large print. We are sorry but we do not have the facility to provide information in Braille.

 

Arrival and car parking

Heath Close is accessed via electric gates. These are open during the day and locked late at night. Please advise if you intend to arrive late in the evening.

Our drive does slope downhill but there is a level area outside the house for loading and unloading.

There is ample car parking directly outside the house.

The car parking area is illuminated at night by security lights.

We are happy to assist with luggage.

 

Main Entrance and Reception

There is one step up to the wide front door and a further step to enter the reception hall.

There is a bell at the front door and a further bell on the reception desk in the hall to summon assistance.

Guests are shown to their accommodation and facilities are explained.

 

 

Heath Close – Main House

Guest Areas

The reception hall has a desk containing information for our guests on local services and attractions.

The main reception hall floor is level polished limestone tile.

The guest lounge and dining room are on the ground floor, both accessed via the hall.

The staircase up to the four guest bedrooms is also located in the hall. It is wide, with a banister on the left hand side. There are 16 steps up to the landing.

 

Guest Lounge

The lounge is a calm and cosy area where our guests can relax.

The lounge has a single glazed door leading to the garden.

Flooring is a high quality, fitted carpet.

There is a high, wing-backed chair and also a sofa in the lounge.

There is a selection of magazines for our guests.

 

Dining Room

There is an open fire which may be lit in the winter.

French doors lead to the garden terrace. There is one step down to the terrace.

 

Bedrooms

Four bedrooms are located on the first floor of the house and accessed via the main staircase.

All bedrooms have fitted, high quality carpets.

All bedrooms have central heating, flat screen television (with free view channels, teletext and subtitles), hairdryer and tea and coffee.

A complementary glass of sherry is offered in the rooms on arrival.

All bedrooms except the budleigh room have ensuite bath or shower rooms

Beds are made up with two pillows per person and duvets.

Pillows and duvets are hollow fibre.

An additional bedspread is placed at the end of each bed.

Extra pillows and blankets are available on request.

Access can be gained from both sides of the beds.

 

The Somerset Room has a double bed

The Cornwall Room has king size double bed

The Wiltshire Room has two 3ft 6'' luxurious single beds

The Budleigh Room has a double bed

The Dorset Room has a super king size bed

The Somerset Room has an in-built wardrobe

The Cornwall Room contains a comfortable chair and wardrobe

The Budleigh Room has built-in cupboards

The Wiltshire Room contains a sofa and small kitchen. There is a 7cm step down into the kitchenette. The kitchenette contains a sink, fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle, plus crockery and cutlery. There is a smoke alarm in the kitchen

The Dorset Room contains a wardrobe and a comfortable chair

The Dorset Room is accessed via french doors and there is one step up into the room

 

Bathrooms

All of the shower/bath rooms are tiled and have heated towel rails.

Showers are powerful.

Towels are provided.

The Somerset Room has a 6cm step into the bathroom, a bath with a mixer tap and no hand grips (57cm wide x 153cm long), the shower is a wet room style shower, there is also a single basin and w.c. In addition there is a single basin in the bedroom.

The Cornwall Room has a 13cm step into the shower which has a 44cm sliding door. There is a single basin and w.c.

The Wiltshire shower room is accessed via the kitchenette. There is an electric shower (69cm x 69cm) which has a 30cm step into it. There is also a w.c. and single basin. This room also has disabled access.

The Dorset Room has a 13cm step in to the bathroom, heated floor, basin, wc and heated towel rail.

The Wiltshire and The Dorset rooms are in The Cottage located next to the main house down a short sloped drive. Please see following details:

 

 

The Cottage

Arrival

On arrival please check-in at the main house.

The Cottage is located next to the main house down a short sloped drive.

 

Car Parking

There is an even surface outside The Cottage for loading and unloading.

There is parking for two cars in the carport. There are electric lights within the carport.

There are security lights outside The Annex to illuminate the area at night.

 

 

Gardens

The garden terrace may be accessed by a narrow path from the front drive or via the french doors from the dining room.

There is one step down from the dining room to the garden terrace.

The garden terrace is a level paved area with tables and chairs where our guests may sit.

There are four steps down from the terrace to an area of level lawn.

 

 

Additional Information

Heath Close is a non-smoking establishments throughout but guests may smoke in the garden (an ashtray is available on request)

All guest rooms are fitted with smoke alarms.

Heath Close offers Wi-Fi internet access.

Mobile phone reception is generally good.

We are happy to refrigerate items for guests.
